What’s the Deal with Organic Foods? Part 1
Nutrition by Natalie What is the difference between organic food and conventional food? Is organic really more healthy for you? The USDA lays out certain guidelines that farms have to follow in order to be able to claim the food is organic. In this video Natalie discusses what each of those guidelines are. What is surprising to learn is some of the growing practices of conventional farming and food processing. As an example, chemical plants and waste water treatment facilities will actually sell their toxic waist to conventional farms to use for fertilizer. What you eat is an important part of health and nutrition. @MefuneAkira wow the coffee thing u said is scarey (i dont drink that crap anyway).. glad to see your ‘awake’ thou..
@TopOrganicTeam yeah tru, its not just skin products thou, its our ‘water’ and ‘air’ that are continuosly being poisened aswell..
@anthonydouglasmunk I have studied agricultur over a year. no, organic food dont use pesticides. its the reason why u get much less food per acare when growing organic.
I think you mixed up organic food whit IPM.
@rurtlen, I definitely agree, but by endorsing and consuming organic products, you are endorsing farmers who do NOT use pesticide, herbicides, which then don’t contaminate the soil, water and air. Bio-magnification is a scary thing!
yeah i agree, we just need more ppl out there doing THIS.. especially these days..
Back up your facts and name ONE major organic farm that does NOT use ANY pesticides.
To say they do not is rubbish. What do you think they use to keep the bugs off? Magic? Robot fly swatters?
Study harder.
@MefuneAkira Its a STANDARD for organic farms to NOT use pesticides, i have been to some in my country.
It can NOT be called organic food if it has not fullfielde the standards. Ur the one claiming that they use pesticides, u come up whit one that uses it.
“What do you think they use to keep the bugs off?”
Well clearly u know very little about agriculture. They use for example ecological methods, good croprotation, mechanical methods, which also are used in conventional farming.
@MefuneAkira of course there is corporations out there that would hire people do these bullshit ”tests’ to ‘prove’ with ‘studies’ and whatever ‘scientist’ ‘researches’ food of course is just looking out for the best interest of the company in jeopardy of losing money to have some fancy dialect suit wearing high class bunch of windbags feeding the world empty headed statements .you’ve been blind sided your whole life its time to lift the veil and please wake the fuck up!
@anthonydouglasmunk could it be that you have been only reading for the past two years what the big companies want you to read its a marketing scheme they keep you brain washed so they can keep you as a costumer so keep believing the hype.
No. Organic farming uses organic pesticides. For example, Rotenone is one pesticide that was commonly used in organic farming (This one was eventually halted though, due to the dangers associated with it). Rotenone has been shown to cause Parkinsons disease. Another one commonly used is Pyrethrum, created from dried chrysanthemum heads. There is evidence that Pyrethrum is carcinogenic and it is still in common use.
I think you should study harder.
@Aspenly well true, i didn think about those since they are referd as biological/ecological method to fight pests, and it dosent seem that common here.
anyways as mefune said all organic farmers use pesticides is completley wrong. not even all coventional uses pesticides on theire vegetation, only if they really have to + theire are many other ways to kill pests then just pesticides.
yet again, i cant say i know the diffrences in american agriculture.
The comments on this video make me wonder where the human race is headed. Really people are arguing over food now? Can’t we just eat whatever makes us happy and get along : |
You have to do your best.***
Rubbbishhhh Grow Youre Own. organic and non organic products are both COMMERCIALL
Grow your own or buy it in a farm that stil burns ground….
Doesn’t washing the food get rid of the pesticides?
Don’t forget to avoid foods with Aspartame in them. It might be hard to but don’t consume Aspartame. It’s a poison that can seriously mess with your body. It’s a sweetner added to things like Diet Coke and Splenda.
@Aspenly exactly man, the pesticides used on organic food are old outdated and a lot less safer and more dangerous compared to the more advanced pesticides used on inorganic/conventional food
your so freaking hottt. you rock nat!!!
Good information thank you
